In the classical sense, the French balcony is a narrow protruding platform with a wrought-iron railing. Initially, it served as a kind of ventilation of the room, but over time (and with the advent of other methods of ventilation and creating an optimal microclimate in the room), this function has disappeared.
Today, French-type balconies include a special way of organizing a balcony space, providing for panoramic glazing in a single frame - from floor to ceiling.
