Veranda or terrace: what to choose and how to build

Attaching a veranda or terrace to the house is now fashionable. But the veranda and the terrace are not synonymous. What are the differences between them?

Terrace

Used for relaxation only in warm weather. This is an extension to a residential building, but without heating. Usually it is open, i.e. it has no windows. But it has a roof and you can hide from the rain or the burning sun. Although the floor is not protected from rain.

There are terraces in the form of separate buildings, which may not have a roof. Often, it is just a wooden platform raised off the ground.

Veranda

It is used both in warm and cold seasons, but it is also not heated.

It is an extension of the house, i.e. there is a roof and a railing on four sides. It has many windows to provide natural light. The roof of the veranda is covered with the same material as the roof of the house.

The veranda is used not only for summer vacations, it can be a kitchen, dining room or bedroom.
